Have I the Right

Have I the Right

A Poem by knowman
"

A catchie kind of poem

"
Have I the right to touch your hand ?

To give you reason to understand.

Have I the right to kiss your cheek ?

For the touch of you makes me meek.

Have I the right to want you so ?

For all I want is you, you know.

Have I the right to hold you near ?

When nothing else seems so dear !

Have I the right to love you much ?

While my heart aches for your soft touch.

Have I the right to look at you ?

and tell, the things I’d like to do ?

Have I the right to wonder then ?

if by chance I might could win.

But, at last what is the choice ?

When all I want, is to hear your voice !!

It is a bit catchy, rhymes and flows extremely well, and reads so very easily. Commenting on the content/message, my answer to the question "Have I the right?" is "yes". Assuming that both individuals are available, I think every man at least has the right to approach a woman he's interested in. I believe that now, but 40 years ago, I often felt I wasn't good enough or sufficiently worthy to persue certain females.

Hey man,
Superb poem, and I agree with Sam - it flows well. This one gets to the heart of a man's desire, asking if it's okay to desire somebody young and beautiful, and it seems that in many cases the answer is no when it should not be. But what else can we be when we reach the twilight of our lives? Yes, I'm just another dirty old man too.

Great job sir! I'll be checking your other work. BZ
