PerfectionA Poem by abrooks180This poem is about perfection.
Perfection.
What is it? Where does it reside? on my face? in my eyes? where all my secrets lie? Is it in the carefully placed makeup? The perfectly cut hair? The never made mistakes? at least, The one's I haven't shared? Surely it's achievable If I play my cards just right. Surely I can find it If I try with all my might. "Perfection, Perfection. Come out and play! I can't wait forever, I don't have all day! I have people who wait to see what you do! They're pretty They're gorgeous It's that, I want too!" She finally speaks after hours it seems her voice soft and low it practically sings "Quiet down little girl! I'm hearing your cries, and I'm sorry to tell you, I've filled you with lies! I'm not what I seem, and I'm not all that great, and the people who've met me suffered great fate! They walked around blissful at first so it seemed. They were royal and perfect they had everything. But something was missing in their perfect facade. Something important, and so long forgot. I watched as their hair fell out in clumps their bones started rotting they fell over in slumps." I looked at Perfection. There were tears in her eyes. It was then that I realized this was all a disguise. "You can never obtain me. I will never be yours. For the myth that I'm real, has been told times before. I am an illusion a fictional foe, and once people see me, they can never let go. I linger in the mind, like the sickest disease. Destroying, and killing. The thickest of thieves." © 2016 abrooks180Featured Review
