Time After Time

Time After Time

A Poem by Abon Hassan
"

For we won't hold each other's hands anymore, and that'll be the end of me.

"

Time after time, I look upon my life; sometimes grateful and sometimes raging; Lord, I’ve been good, and I’ve been mad, but it was loving and caring and caressing that face that made me happy at the worst of times.

I couldn’t imagine being all alive during that period, not seeing a future or grasping what was of my knowledge.

Time after time; O, should I cry? Should I waste my energy thinking whilst life goes on and on without me?

I must say I’m privileged, for your pain and thunder struck on my back and again I was alive and ready, not at all prepared, but engaged, and wanting and longing for when I could love again, not with my misery, but with new eyes and a warming heart.

O, Time after time, far away I reach your empty bedside, and I’m alone;

My memories of you, are what keeps me on, the truth is, I no longer exist, I’m behind you as a memory myself, and I care and I long for us, for what could’ve been.

And I must say, TIME AFTER TIME;

You warm up my heart, you’re my reasons, yet becoming, forever turning your back at me, as you exit the room. All I see, all I have is the striking of your hand holding mind, as it electrifies my whole body.

O baby, where is it that our encounters will take us? Not here, not there, not heaven, not earth, nor the pub or the park, but in the moon we’ll make love, and forgive ourselves for every minute we let each other breath, without the other.
