AM I CONFUSING YOU?A Poem by T.A free verse poetry about confusion and. . .I don't really know. HAHA!
"And step three began when I
realized that I didn't have to write poems that were indignant, if that's not
what I was. There were things that were specific to me, and the more that I
focused on those things, the weirder my poetry got, but THE MORE IT FELT LIKE
MINE." " Kay, Sarah “What’s your goal in life?”, she
asked To be successful To be famous To be admired To thrive That’s what they said. What about me?
I’m sorry, I lied Those were what I had in mind Seems impossible? Or possible? I didn’t know, all I knew was that I could be anything What a cruel joke
Proud, arrogant I’d been slapped by the cold hand of Reality Like what my block’s president had said
Up until now, I think Reality’s still slapping me Or trying to I don’t feel anything Want to know why? For He slapped me numerous times that I became numb There were times when I would stare straight ahead and
ponder, “Am I worth it?” “Will I be what I want to be?”
Teenage problems, huh? We think we know everything but in reality We’re just babes Attempting to make sense of love and power But what do we know about those? We’re babes! Stop thinking too hard We’re sixteen Stop being histrionic, sigh
I’m sorry, I lied again Main goal in life? To find true love.
That came out of nowhere Goals, reality, teenage problems then love Am I confusing you? Really? I’m confusing myself either I’m using past and present tenses here I don’t think that’s possible but, who cares? This is my poetry Or tirade See? Teenage problems © 2014 T.Author's Note
