Red Love

Red Love

A Poem by Anna Blackburn
"

An assignment for English class; we had to write a lyric poem.

"
Dripping, dropping;
flowing through our veins.
Flipping, flopping;
growing in our hearts.
Deep and dangerous,
It's left on the knife.
Deep and dangerous,
It's part of our life.
Running, flooding,
as red as a winter nose.
Stunning, budding,
as red as a summer rose.
Dark and sticky;
Red is our blood.
Hard and tricky;
Red is our love.

Red. A good colour, an apt description.
I think you might have meant through, not threw, but poetic license is entirely yours.

Easy to miss. We usually correct our own mistakes that is why another eye is better.:)

Yess, it is!
The colour of love and the colour of pain. An apt comparison between the substance providing life, and the feeling compelling it. Lovely imagery throughout. Well done! :)

I really like the imagery use and it flows very well. At times the images and feelings provoked are disconcerting which I feel was your goal and it works vey well. I don't know but for some reason, probably because of the way this poem flows, but I see a red river twisting and curving. Beautifully done!
