The Noise

The Noise

A Chapter by dicey jones

Mike awoke, the noise coming from the radio telescope just blared on... he had joined the army for one thing. To defend his country; go behind enemy lines, capture terrorist, maintain the peace and harmony of his country. The fact that every generation of the Dawson home had served and fought for this country was a legacy he wants fulfill on his part. Everything so far as been anything but the service he envisioned. Buried deep below the ocean floor was the X40-20, a kind of nuclear submarine meant to move under water. Stationed at the sea water observatory (S.W.O) was unexpected, the purpose of this division was mostly scientific, as any first comer would notice the corky scientists, the ever present odor of sea fishes and the continuous electrical wires  conjoined to different machines. Whatever they did here was similar to every space agency, monitor our earth and look out for any other intelligent beings. He had complained and even appealed for a change of station. His commander will always tell him
"you're meant for great things mike, this is were you'll meet them" .

Would his commander be glad about the noise emanating. Sure he would. Something else bother him, what really are they waiting for, this ship has been here for more than sixty years, it couldn't just be a inharmonious sound coming from the device he been told to monitor very closely . If it made as little as a breath of noise, he should immediately report in, now was time he really got an explanation. The noise had brought him back to reality, now is time for answers.
