Aching

Aching

A Poem by abitmixedup
"

About being lost, and yearning for someone to understand

"

They settle around you, like moths to a flame,

They hover, ready to pounce in a moment’s hesitation.

You feel like screaming at them.

You’re aching from the inside out,

Living in a constant state of numbness and pain

That not one of them can begin to comprehend.

They think it’s their fault,

“They didn’t see the signs,” they sigh.

You kept it from them.

Hiding each fact became your full time occupation.

Forcing yourself to be alone, like you needed,

Like you felt.

They talk around you, about you, but never to you.

You’ve become a project

To save you from yourself.

You don’t need saving,

Just one look of acceptance,

Of acknowledgement,

That maybe, just maybe, whatever you are,

That person so screwed up and scared,

Is enough for them.
