![]() How to write ?A Story by Abhik HI wouldn’t claim myself as a poet but I guess you could call me ‘someone who transforms words into beauty.’ My poems and writings might not seem good to all as beauty is a very relative discussion. By the way, I don’t want to drift away from the main topic and discuss unimportant matters. My aim here is to tell the readers about how I write my poems or as you might put it, ‘how I proceed with beautification.’ One main point about it is that I never sit down on a particular time with the intention of writing a poem. Rather it all comes by itself; let me describe it more clearly. At first I try to chose a philosophical subject like loneliness, friendship or social defects if not then I let the subject chose my poem. Then I keep thinking about it. I think for a couple of days and wait patiently till it comes and suddenly I get a tiny hint tiny but effective. I nurture this hint and build up the right sequence of words. I keep on going and after some time I have a poem on my mind. One of my advice to the readers is that you should never select a specific topic for your poem because it confines you to a particular phase of innovation and creates obstruction in the path of creativity. Many prefer their poem to be good in every part. But this often spoils the whole thing, as it is very hard to be excellent in every case. So, I prefer an abrupt start but a beautiful ending. The last part carries the effect that remains for a long time in the mind. So it should be exceptional and superior than the other. On the other hand an abrupt start urges them to read on. As for the title, I give it at the last spending more time for it. I always try to give a metaphorical one which creates a bit of mystery. The meaning of the poem is often considered of vital importance. But I think that creativity is an art. And art is beauty. Beauty cannot be explained by logic and reasons. Many a time I found things that has no meaning at all and yet they are the most beautiful, objects. At this point, the readers might have a impression that I am telling them to write nonsense poem, well no, I am not. Rather I am telling them to venture into paths of poetry where beauty stands, meaning prevails, but logic fails. Now you might raise the question that, ‘What’s the use of writing illogical things?’ My answer to this is that everything is relative. What might seem meaningless and illogical to you, might be sensible and meaningful to others. Besides a word or phrase is maybe being used metaphorically which you failed to understand. One thing that I have understood till now is that, “Necessity is not always the mother of invention. Rather inspiration often works behind it. I would define inspiration as a helping hand in the long way of success. A small word of praise or maybe an expression brings a big change in whole thing which results in you working more spontaneously. It not only helps to go further but also to reach the highest level. The question might be raised that, ‘What if I don’t succeed?’ In reply I would only say. ‘Winning might be the best dream and hope but fighting for it is a thing to be cheered for.’ Everything I told above might be of some use to you but I am never telling that you must follow it. Because maybe you have better ways of writing then me. In fact its up to you to chose in which way you feels more comfortable. In he discussions above I have given some answers claiming it to be a relative issue. Here, I would like to confess that it is easy to provide explanation if something is considered relative. The world is a big place where you can not give all the answers but they exist and are truly there. © 2012 Abhik HAuthor's Note
