A Poem by aberranter

what if your skin was made up of the words you said?
every time that you spoke, the words that left your mouth,
tattooed themselves onto any and every inch of your skin.
Every word, sentence, conversation that you've ever produced,
advertised on your legs and arms and face and chest.
Would you say "I love you" more?
Would you isolate yourself from gossip and hateful language?
Would you smile at your reflection or cringe and hide?
Harmful words temporarily harm those that they're intended to, but
they permanently scar the mouth that they leave.

Beautiful. It sparks a true feeling in me, and makes me think of all of the hurtful things I have said and that have been said to me. I'm blown away.

Thank you so much for the kind words, I'm happy that I was able to make you feel something.
