Drowning in fairytales

Drowning in fairytales

A Poem by bee
"

Reading is my escape

"
I'll drown myself in fairytales
skip to the happy end
Trying to find this magic place
where broken hearts do mend

I'll look for Peter in the sky
if he could take my hand
I'll walk through closets that will lead
me to magic lands

I'll look out for a big white owl
hope my letter will arrive
I'll find my wolvepack in the forest
and howl with them at night

I'll chase a rabbit down a hole
to drink a magic potion
I'll hold my breath long as I can
find cities in the ocean

I'll drown myself in fairytales
skip to the happy end
I will flee to those magic places
til broken hearts do mend

drowning is usually not too positive a concept, but drowning in fairytales can only be the best of all dreams.

no worries, my pleasure entirely :)
I love your rhyme and rhythm here, bee. It makes for a lovely, flowing read. Fairytales are always wonderful to indulge in to get away from the harsh realities of life. I appreciate your effort here.

Thank you very much for your kind words, Inessa
If this is one of your first poems to write, then I'm highly impressed! Many here at the cafe, who are very good writers, do not write this good after years of writing poetry. I love how you start out kinda trying to stay within the dotted lines of rhyme & rhythm & traditional fairytale imagery . . . but then as the verses go by, this care goes by the wayside as your writing takes on an enthusiastic, uninhibited flare that pushes you beyond the constraints you started out with. That's exactly how the spirit should move you as you write (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Thank you so much for your kind words and encouragement, that means a lot
They are such a perfect escape from reality and I've read quite a few myself so I can appreciate the nod to various different stories here in your poem.
