Rubber Leaves

Rubber Leaves

A Poem by Abdul Aziz

Going for a walk in the sudden summer breeze
Treading on the aura of dissipating leaves
Like an alloy made of rubber plants and molten glass
On the cold gloved hands of the frigid time thieves,

I feel the little pleasure of an annoying wind,
The pittance for a day of unwilling labour
The whistle from the lips of life's whirlwind
A reminder that joy is sorrow's wistful neighbour.

It serves as marigold in a sea of laburnum
A sense of some music in a life of commotion
Can we afford to appreciate these little moments?
Can we stop being robots and find some emotion?

it's hard to notice even the small annoyances and give them a moment's thought. there is also another side of these little things, and instead of dismissing them we should pay notice and let it affect us so as to show we are human beings with emotions. great piece.
