Shadows on the Dust - A SonnetA Poem by Abdul AzizThe night time tide shall ebb and flow no more, And cease and come to rest sometime tonight; These dust of memories it brings ashore Shall scintillate and cloud our eyes with light. The winds of time shall breathe, and come they must To sweep these troubled thoughts afloat with care, And as regrets form shadows on the dust, The breeze shall dissipate them in the air. For woe betides the mind that dwells in the past, And seeks redemption in its sordid tales, Unmindful of the hope that change doth cast Mistaking winds of time for brawny gales. Be not afraid of failure and regret, And watch them dissipate their silhouettes.
