An Elegy of MunificenceA Poem by Abdul AzizLittle drops of water, A tender soliloquy of saline, A munificent elegy Garlands your thoughts As we stare at the distance from The centre of nowhere.
It's raining, you look up and say, And you tell me work beckons, While yet refusing to let go of my hand, As you wait for that all too familiar embrace, The one born of shreds of light In moments of darkness, Ready to kill me with the crease of your lips.
I know I've been bad, Kathy, But I'll make it right; I mean it with more than all earnestness Of a thousand corny movie lines. And while here we stand, Drenched in the sweat of our own tears, Piled upon us by the power of frustration, I feel a little smile creaking across my face As you look up, with your perfect eyes Shining more than these Vibrant raindrops desperately clinging to your face, And plant a perfect little kiss, Dispelling this somber texture of a world in chaos. © 2011 Abdul Aziz |
