Summer

Summer

A Poem by Abdul Aziz
"

Nostalgia is amicable

"
Little streaks of gold brighten up my walls
In the middle of a summer day;
The warmth of the sun infuses everyone
With the hope to fulfill a cliche.

Life stands and stares from across my window,
Dressed in the summer shade.
Her face is painted by shadows of the leaves
That touch her and gently fade.

I yearn for the days when the young and old
Had something to give and share;
When truth was a friend and day had an end
And there was magic in the air.

But hope has its way and today I see
The sun has rolled back time;
As I stroll to the future, I hearken to my past,
When life had a rhythm and rhyme.
