Never Can Such As You Be Born

January spent in a somnolent cloak

Under the wings of abandoned dreams.

Vaudeville-watching on the banks of time,

Embers of joy quenched by apathetic streams.

Raconteurs recalled borrowed stories,

Iridescent rumors that stabbed my heart

As abeyance grabbed December's memories. Until...

You passed me by like a floating song,

Amber eyes, not a bit forlorn,

Stealing my reverie all day long,

Ending the darkness, ushering dawn.

Eclogue, valkyrie, ebullient song,

Never can such as you again be born.

Though I am not on here as much any more that doesn't stop me from stealing a few minutes to read such enrapturing poetry. Upon reading this piece, I find myself engrossed in the second stanza. I feel like time has done a cinematic slow-mo and passing before me eyes is that special love and all the beautifully engaging descriptions you have played along the reverie of my thoughts dancing their way in. (oh yeah, and her hair is dark and flowing too) The italics give rise to the sensation of that moment. I love the unexpected cadence in rhyme and interestingly niche metaphors. I admit I had to look up Raconteurs but I'm always happy to encounter new and delicious phrases which give even more depth and meaning to one's poetry. I love the sadness, the waning want and then the buds of stirring passion...

Keep on writing like this and more :)

Abdul Aziz... What on earth is this if not absolutely B-E-A-UTIFUL? Short as it is, I enjoyed every slipping second of it. Really, what a great piece of work, sir. Forgive the lame review, but I don't know what else to say... This was awesome.

Lovely imagery. You write like a denizen in Winter's realm; a son of the Ice Time.

Very moving and complex piece of writing. Much mixed emotion flows within the rhythm bringing forth a piercing light. An awakening of sorts in metaphor.. very interesting left with some stirring mystery to it. Awesome almost surreal outpouring.
