Euphony in dissonance

Euphony in dissonance

A Poem by Abdul Aziz

Euphony in dissonance

There's a song that's playing for millennia,

Ebbing and flowing like the tides of the mind,

Sweet and enthralling like a clarinet note,

Pulsating with the vigor of countless hearts.

The notes are written by the legend of man,

And chords are spliced by the blades of time.

Decided by the cello, the tone is mellow,

Sung by the chorus of drops of blood.

The major key unlocks the chest

And is aptly followed by the minor one.

It unlocks the door to a million dreams

Pounding on the walls of besieged hearts.

A singer may drop a note or two,

But never does the melody waver.

Dissonance acts like a peacock's dance,

Bringing ephemeral moments of imperfection.

Moments of obdurate self perception.

Each singer has a portion unique to themselves,

But differing only in the tenor of voice.

The chorus is blessed by angelic disposition,

And it all comes together for the song of life.

Drenched in the rain of kindred dreams,

Cleansing ourselves of unsightly pain,

Swaying to the tune of the whistling breeze,

We stand shoulder to shoulder to sing again.

Perfect symmetry can never be attained.

Euphony dances with the wine of dissonance.

For all our secrets, for all our mistakes,

For what it’s worth, the fact still remains.

We may all be different.

But we are still human.

This poem is going into my favourites, because the symphony you wrote is ageless in my opinion. It could "almost" be compared to the works of Beethoven and Mozart in terms of longevity and broad appeal, in this case the poem's broad audience=all of us.

I'm glad you stayed away from rhymes, as it would not benefit such a poem. The metaphors are intelligent and always come back to this notion of the "song of life."
The lines,
"The chorus is blessed by angelic disposition,
And it all comes together for the song of life." - are absolutely great for the aforementioned reason.

Well done my friend.

btw...I'd change the font. I know you chose it for the effect, but believe me that we do not need aesthetics with such words :)

I think this is beautiful! Like a choir has layers upon layers of different voices, all unique and different, that come together in perfect harmony, your words come together in the harmonious fusion of brilliance. I don’t know that much about specific musical terminology, but I feel as if you have incorporated a great deal of this within your poem. Your summation of, “We may all be different. But we are still human.” really closes the poem nicely, the penultimate reality of recognizing our differences and realizing that it’s okay.

"The notes are written by the legend of man," - reminded me of Hans Zimmer lol
"The chorus is blessed by angelic disposition,
And it all comes together for the song of life." - reminded of the song 'The circle of life' from The Lion King lol
"Swaying to the tune of the whistling breeze,
We stand shoulder to shoulder to sing again." - this reminded me of February whe n I won the table tennis tournament in and the choir started singing 'Stand up for the champions' lol

All in all, I enjoyed reading this, good one. :)
