A rumour's steepleA Poem by Abdul Aziz
A word here,
A word there, And here's a Word replaced. A twist of the tongue, A slip from a rung, Hence is a Heart displaced. Watering words, Wandering herds, Thus is truth Led astray. Trust was a word, But now has it heard, That it can Be betrayed. A heart hears Its hurt tears, As drenched It is with pain. All for but A sinning word. But the world has Got it sained. A lie uttered, No gain earned; Trust broken On the way. Hear, people, A rumour's steeple Pierces all, With none to pay. © 2010 Abdul AzizFeatured Review
