A Bacterial StoryA Poem by Abdul Aziz
Surveying with his prying eyes,
He heaves his cell out of his den. With his protoplast he flies, Charged up nextgen antigen! "Farewell nose my trusted place" He thinks as he leaves his abode. "Come on guys, another death race" He yells as he leads from the fore! He bristles vibrissae aside, Breaking the first line of defence; "Ah! We've done it!", he yells with pride "Hah! Is this all human's cadence?" Down the trachea he passes, Just one more job now left to do. Now the carina he crosses, In a jiffy the bronchus too. Here hurry the macrophages, Him do they try to endocytose; With immaculate ease he dodges And taunts and tirades, all verbose. He lets go his deadly toxins, "Now I kill you, haroo haroo!" He abruptly sees little things That cling to him out of the blue. "I won't swell up, keep on dreaming" He scoffs at the antibodies. He sees the lymphocyte now smiling It tells him he is so fool hardy. He swells up all to his dismay, And tries to close all his pores. "Leave me, leave me" he begs and prays, Struggling to lock all his doors. "You knew not of the memory Your brethren left us when they came; To deal with your trickery Is in our genes now ingrained!" "You have got me, my friends you won't!" "Ah! Look but behind to know" He sees them trapped and gagged and bound And then receives his final blow. © 2010 Abdul AzizReviews
