I have a very harsh and critical eye when it comes to poems of love... but this poem ranks as the best positive appraisal of that much-vaunted emotion that I have read in a while... probably ever here on this site. And it is a man, ironically, who manages to achieve that esoteric claim.
This is truly a very beautiful testament to the subject and is conceived with intelligence and a high skill for finding the right words and rhyme.
"Turquoise dreams, cerulean themes-
The sky runs out of praise.
It bursts at seams or so it seems -
You've set it all ablaze. "
..This verse is outstanding poetry, the sort of standard that should be set in this kind of genre. I only wish I could advertise that fact more widely than I am able to. The message: THIS is how to write a love poem.
Very good flow and rhyming scheme, with sharp word choices and phrasing. The combination of admiration and reference to nature elevates this to poetic loftiness soaring freely into both minds and hearts.
Well, I'm no Devons but that was remarkable. You think of rhyming patterns and schemes that could not have been created by any other. I love this. There is no more to say.
I love how the verses flow, with all four lines reading well, yet, if you were to just keep the first and fourth lines, it still flows easily.
"The clouds are shy: how low they fly -
They offer me a clue.
They try and try, I don't know why
To make me think of you."
This verse is my favorite, and immediately makes me think of someone I feel I shouldn't be thinking about.
This has a feeling of the great romantics about it, it's thoroughly beautiful. Lovely rhythm and a gorgeous story, but I am partial to such things-I know! Makes me a little envious alone on the top of my mountain! :)
As always the standard is set with you, a perfect love poem, I could only give you a full rating!
This reminds me of poetry written hundreds of years ago. It's so beautiful and pure in it's emotions. I love every line, you use very original words to convey precise images. This is one of the better love poems I've read on this site. :) So very sweet.
My! So inspiring and loving! Beautiful with an almost surrealistic flow…The sense of honest, unbridled love is touching…Completely proves my point that poets are the best lovers.
