I BelieveA Poem by Abdul AzizI Believe I believe in the wisdom
of trees, In
the melodies that escape Their
porous canopies as evening Threads
through drooping leaves.
I
believe in the sound of the seas, In
the fervent applause of water on sand, In
the stories each drop of life can tell, Of
little sorrows and joys and victories.
I
believe in the breath of the morning sky, Each
atom of blue, each island of white, I
believe in the sky of the evening too, Its
crimson drape and million hues.
I
believe in the magic of light from the sun, In
the silent oration of streaming light, Its
pristine diction, golden eloquence And
the clarity it brings to a sleeping mind.
I
believe in the power of your hazel eyes And
the light they refract from the depth of your soul; I
believe in time dancing slowly around you, I
believe in your love; I believe in you.
I
believe in Him who painted My
dreams in your hazel eyes, And
my world in your visage. I
believe in Him who created you.
