EgretA Poem by Abdul AzizEGRET
No darkness punctuated
the blue sky Reflected
in the shimmer of the lake; The
breeze that rummaged brought a ruffled sigh, A
symphony without a pause or break
Beside
the shore, on single golden foot I
saw an egret standing there at ease, Who
seemed, with tranquil mind and heart to put His
thoughts in meditation, love and peace
With
shut eyelids and shuttered wings at side, He
seemed to hover with the lilting breeze; And
with the air that pruned and purified He
shook away his doubts, and old worries
With
knowing glance, he met my watching eye And
spread his wings to hug the evening sky
