I really liked this poem a lot. The beginning hooked me right away and I really found myself enjoying the narration, descriptions, and general flow of this poem. Really good mate, which I could give you some technical feedback about it, but can't find any. Really good.
Not all adages hold over time. I like the worried thoughts that rhyme perfectly throughout your poem and the resolve to continue though you may not be able to succeed. A message of never giving up. I loved these lines:
No one's spoken; no one's stirred,
I've been through a life and half of work;
My hands are trembling, my eyes are blurred
And I sure can't savour my handiwork.

Some of these proverbs might not hold over time, as you point out. But some people ignore old sayings just because they are old. Who knows, maybe these old sayings hold more wisdom than we do?
generally, it was what I wanted to read here for awgile, your picks are great. I am confirming the belief that dreams, passions, appetences, and aspirations are always rejected, battled, struggled, beligueared by people and society you know why because it is personal. people likes general things, things serve the public, in their eyes these hobies are trivial and bagattele, and to be assured people affect other people so when you find out your passion is not accepted or believed by people around you , you gradually instead of acruing , will give them up to something they prefer as reasonable, profitable and avail, but then that passion, or dream will stay as an animated death, one opportunity, they will rise once more because they were always there, never died. sorry for being long but it was a very amazing topic to discuss and share thanks again and well done.

Yes, and this problem deserves much thought, though I think there's no real solution to it. Ultimately, it depends I guess on whether the person can afford to risk following his passions truly.
