Of Books and HerA Poem by Abdul Aziz"Please
hold this dear," she said while weaving through Her hair with
fingers made of clumsy bone And left me in
possession of her book; "We
rarely share this luxury alone,"
She said while
flicking strands of hair that slipped On ears that
were attuned to poetry. "So..
Where do you propose we go today?" She asked, and
smiling, showed her mastery
Of ways to
freeze a human soul through lips And all I
could was mumble like a child, A rabbit
caught in hazel eye headlights. She laughed
and grabbed my hand with sudden mild
Compassion.
She could see my ravaged state Of being, through her all consuming look. "I think
we'll stay and talk alone," she said And left me
holding both her lips, and book.
