Sanity and You

Sanity and You

A Poem by Abdul Aziz

The frivolity of vanity vanishes when

Your threadbare eyelashes flash a weary smile,

And all traces of flippancy and love of remorse

Wither away in your line of sight, while

I stand a mute spectator, in awe of your eyes.

All whispers of insanity dissolve in the edges

Of your sweet voice, as it dances

In the minds of mortals, receptive

Only to the longings and glances

Of sanity that emanates from my soul.

A light that cures the heartache of dawn

Creaks from the corners of your rose-petal lips,

Encroaching in silence on the territory of my skin,

Not vacillating when the heart's apocalypse

Bursts my emotions on your lips.
