Rain

Rain

Rain can be beautiful

Rain
By abby vandeberg

Rain is soothing
Relaxing
Delicate
Hearing the rhythm
Of the sound it makes
As it drops to the earth
And from there it flows
Between and beneath the Earth
We soak it in
It's like therapy
Rain is constant
In some places it never ends
Rain is like tears
When the clouds turn grey
We get sad
A fear starts to form
For all we know
Rain as something classified as sad
Is that so?
Rain is natural
Just like the tears we cry
They both come out
Flowing and dripping
But when they're over
When the tears fade
And the rain drops finally rest
For there's a patch of sun
Beautifully lit upon our soul
And then we know then
That rain isn't our enemy
But our friend

By a strange coincidence, it is pouring down here in South Louisiana. When I lived in California, I missed the rain. I know it is the perfect climate and all that, but I suppose that was the problem. Perfection is boring.

Good write. If a poem revives memories it has worked.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. How about a homeless person's point of view? A cold, wet night of rain sleeping helplessly on the streets with nothing to see but the incandescent blurs of the streetlights. Alone, cold and dripping wet, Sad and begging for a warm night. Anyways, I love this poem well done.

This is very nice. I love how descriptive you were. I think you really captured rain to its fullest. Nicely done!
