Worst. Day. Ever.

Worst. Day. Ever.

One of those "finish the story" things

Laura shuffled through the leaves, tears making a wet path down her cheek. Reaching her house, she threw her books on the floor, made her way through the maze of boxes, and collapsed on her couch sobbing. She hated her new school; absolutely hated it! Her first day had been a disaster. She wiped her eyes and marched up to her mom.
“I hate that school and I’m never going back!” she told her mom.
“Well I guess I won’t ask how your day went.  Do you want to talk about it?”
“Yes.”
Laura flopped down on the couch again and began her dreadful story.
“From the minute that I walked in to the building, I knew that I didn’t belong.  Everyone just pushed and shoved through the crowds, not even saying hi or making eye contact.  People formed their little “gossip groups”, that blocked half of the hall, and tried their best to exclude unwanted contributors.  I went to the office and they gave me a locker number, combination, and a schedule.  I couldn’t get my locker open and I was late to my first class.  My morning classes sucked and everyone knew where to sit except me.  I wasn’t hungry enough to get a lunch just to eat it alone so I just sat in the hall and pretended to concentrate on my homework.  Speaking of homework, I already have a ton and I’m totally confused.  I guess everyone else started school like a whole month ago.  My afternoon classes weren’t as bad as the others but I still felt like a misfit.  In history I dropped my book.  It ripped, and I now owe the school like $75.  Some jerk in math spilled his water on me and I’m pretty sure that while walking down the hall, EVERYONE stared at me as I walked by.  It made me want to die.”
While Emily spilled her guts, her mom just sat quietly and listened. When Emily had finished, she finally spoke.
“Wow.  I’m sorry, that sounds absolutely terrible.”
“Oh it was.  I’m pretty sure that I have never had a worse day in my life.”
“Well maybe we can make something in this day go right.”
So Emily’s mom took her to BRAUM’S and she had a chocolate chip cookie dough milkshake with a big, hot pink straw.

That was a cute way to end it. Nice way to capture teenage dramatics as well.
