![]() MusicA Story by Abby L.![]() ::::![]() If a scientist were to ask me why I play an instrument, I’d simply say, “People need oxygen. Fish need water. The Earth needs the Sun.... I see no difference from my relationship to those relationships.” If an artist were to ask me why I love music, I’d simply say, “You draw your pictures on canvases. I draw mine on silence.” If an author were to ask me why I can cry after a performance, I’d simply say, “Books are stories using written words that people need to learn to understand. Music holds stories using sounds and emotions that only require listening to understand.” If you were to ask me what it means to be able to play in a group, with other talented musicians, and work for days and weeks to obtain just a small hour of notes, I’d smile and simply say, “There’s a moment. A moment when all the emotion inside of you projects into your muscles to perform something to perfection. It’s when everything comes together and all those days and weeks are completely and absolutely worth it. When your emotion is so strong and powerful it moves your audience, like a drop of water, one by one, note by note, each and every person will understand exactly what you feel. That moment is something that can never be replaced, for all the money in the world. That is why I love music. © 2015 Abby L.Author's Note
