PerspectiveA Story by Abby L.::What is Good? What is Bad?::What is good? What is bad? Before I get to that, let’s decide whose perspective we’re looking at. Example A: A woman who is broke, cares for three children, with no father. She does not have much time in her life for anything, but volunteers at a homeless shelter. This woman lives out in the rural areas and has to travel an hour to get to the city to volunteer. She usually donates some of the food off her table, instead of giving it to her children. Is what she doing wrong or right? Example B: A man has a wife, who he loves and cares for. He pays for everything, they have two children together. This man spends hundreds or thousands of dollars on his wife and children. At the same time that man has excess money but would rather burn it than spend it on charities and poor people. He passes people in poverty everyday on his way to work and completely ignores them. Is he wrong or right? In Example A, I think she is idiotic for caring more for homeless people, when there are hungry people at her table, so she is wrong/bad. The problem is, Example A and Example B are opposites. So if Example A is wrong Example B is right/good. I think most would agree the man in Example B is not right, instead very wrong. He sees people everyday who are dying, but continues ignoring them, not caring about what they have to go through. So if Example B is wrong, then Example A is right? Here’s my definition between right and wrong, good and bad, or hero and villain: There is a very, very small barrier separating them, so small it really doesn’t matter. You cannot judge anyone at all, because there is no way you know everything they’ve ever been through. I can’t fully comprehend this, because I have been raised knowing there is a good and there is a bad. All I know is you can’t use you’re experiences as a way to be rude and mean to the world. People are people, good is mythical and so is bad. These things are just titles we use to define people, but because we are so ignorant, we don’t take the time to know people and find their good and bad. Well, whatever, I guess its all in perspective anyway. © 2015 Abby L.Author's Note
