Tired

Please let me sleep.

I’ve had a rough day.

You don’t understand.

I’m tired,

So tired.

 

Talking gives me headaches.

I want to get away.

Just give me some time.

I’m tired,

So tired.

 

The days just drag on.

It never seems to end.

I want it to stop.

I’m tired,

So tired.

 

Exhaustion just creeps in

Until all I want to do is sleep,

But there’s work to be done.

I’m tired,

So tired.

 

 

Does this ever go away?

Must I always feel like this?

Life is getting harder.

I’m tired,

So tired.

 

I used to be energetic.

Life was so much fun.

Now all I feel is a void.

I’m tired,

So tired.

 

Life insists on going on,

But I’m slowing down.

I think I want it to end.

I’m tired,

So tired.

 

Maybe I’ll take the rest,

The one we all must take

When our time here is done.

I’m tired,

So tired.

 

Then maybe I’ll find peace

When I’m resting beneath

Six feet of earth.

I’m tired,

So tired.

Okay this poem gave me the chills. The good kind. I love how it starts off with tired and resting meaning one thing and then turning out to be something forever lasting. Very powerful. Thank you for sharing. :)
