Chapter 1

Chapter 1

A Chapter by OceanMist

Jasmin's POV

I woke up just like I would any other morning, my body heavy with sleep, and made my way down stairs. There I was met with the delicious crisp smell of bacon and eggs cooking on the stove, the smell waking up my senses. I practically skipped over to the table and gleefully sat down next to my older brother Zen, who happened to be my twin, at the round table in the middle of the dinning room.

The table had six chairs, a spare seat always at the table. I watched as my mom split up most of the bacon and eggs onto four plates. I looked around the table, wondering where my younger sister, who was only six, disappeared to on this lovely Monday morning.

"Mom, where is Sophie?" I asked loudly, my voice brimming with curiosity.

"She must still in bed. Can you go fetch her?" Mom asked me in a sweet without looking my way.

"Sure," I answered before jumping out of my chair. Leaving the table I hurried back up the stairs, the smell of my awaiting food causing a grumble from my stomach.

Opening the door to Sophie's room I saw her toys littered all over the room, especially the floor. On Sophie's bed, in the midst of a sea of soft purple blankets, I could see some of her darkened sandy hair sticking out from her covers.

Slowly making my way towards Sophie, my weight focused on the balls of my feet, careful to not cause her to stir awake. I smile inched its way onto my face when I loomed over her covered sleeping body. I let my body flop onto hers, almost as though my legs gave out beneath my weight.

A squeal sounded from underneath Sophie's purple blankets. I felt her squirming beneath my sudden weight, her limbs flailing as she tried to escape. The feeling of her moving body kept on tickling my stomach, I couldn't help but let out a laugh.

"Jasmin! Get off!" My little sister whined, her voice still slightly groggy from her sudden awakening.

I did as she asked, as I stood up she sat up looking at me with a pout. Her hair was messy, sticking up all over the place, I figured my hair couldn't be much better. I flashed a toothy smile while messing her hair up even more. She mumbled something I was unable to hear as she struggled to pat down her hair.

"It's time to wake up, sleepy head. It's Monday already. Don't wanna be late for school and upset mom, do you?" I joked as I headed out of her room, careful not to step on toys.

Before leaving I walked over to her large wooden dresser, thinking I'd be a good and responsible older sister I got her out a pair of faded blue jeans, along with a loose silk shirt covered in navy polka dots. I spun my body using her door frame for balance and dashed down the stairs, not wasting another second of my breakfast.

"I wonder when Dad will be home tonight," I said while walking at a moderate speed passing the colorful houses around me.

"Well, since it is Monday he should be home around seven," Zen answered while putting his hands in his straight light blue hair.

"OK, so I have a question what would you do if I ever went missing?" I asked Zen.

Zen looked shocked at my question then he responded" I would hunt you down find you and bring you home, but I would never let any thing happen to you if I could stop it" he said.

We sat down at the table at about half-past seven and Dad was still not home yet.  I saw that it is going to be one of those nights were he comes in at one o'clock in the morning if at all.  What am I saying he is never home on time I rarely get to see him at all.
