A Stronger Call

A Stronger Call

A Poem by Brad Bramble

Oh time,

You break my heart and soul,

shatter these fragile bones,

But love,

You burn away the cold,

Tear away my cage of stone,

Once free,

I’ll find my way back home,

through all this ice and snow,

I’ve seen enough!

Seasons galloping,

forming their golden ring

One year,

Such a frigid churl,

but the sun is a fiery pearl,

Like that,

Of my heart,

where I got my lonely start

I’ve seen enough!

Of an apathetic chill,

I won’t shake like a windswept quill

This time,

I’ll seize the day,

I’ll send defeat on its way

For love,

Is a stronger call,

that not time can befall
