The definition of drug addiction refers to the repeated withdrawal symptoms when not using drugs. Addiction to drugs is a widely spread phenomenon which leads to psychological and physical effects, but surely there will always be a way to face such a problem. There are various psychological upshots of drug addiction. Some of effects are depression, annuity, paranoia and violence. This is due to the interruption in the consumption of the drug. Also, taking drugs in huge amounts leads to hallucinations and confusion and creates a desire to increase the dose and ask for more. Moreover, many people start taking drugs to cope with stress or pain, but the large use of drugs leads to addiction. In addition to that, craving has dangerous drawback since addicts believe that their body can't function normally and they can't handle life without the use of drugs. Physical effects of drug addiction vary by drug but typically seen in all systems of the body. Some of the primary physical effects of drug addiction take place in the brain. Drug addiction changes the way the brain functions and impacts how the body perceives pleasure. These effects of drug addiction are because the drug repeatedly floods the brain with the chemicals dopamine and serotonin during drug use. The brain adapts and comes to expect, and depend on, these drug-induces highs. Physical effects of drug addiction are also seen in babies of drug abusers as well as i mortality statistics. One effect of drug addiction is : children born to drug-using mothers can be cognitively affected throughout life. Regarding mortality, one-in-four deaths are due to the effects of drug addiction. Other physical effects of drug addiction include: Contraction of HIV, hepatitis and other illnesses, heart rate irregularities, heart attack, respiratory problems such as lung cancer, emphysema and breathing problems, and changes in appetite, body temperature and sleeping patterns. Early detection, treatment and rehabilitation of drug addicts can reduce the number of drug users.Also, parents should set a warm and friendly atmosphere at home so that drug users can feel easy to cooperate with. Moreover, the experience of drugs users can be advertised to the people through media to aware thos who might start taking drugs. Drug abuse is a serious psychological and physical problem often difficult to be cured. Taking these measures into consideration might reduce the aftermath of drug addiction.
