Violence essayA Chapter by Abbass BadredenViolence is not power, but the absence of power. When a man resorts to violence against his woman rather than treating her with wisdom and understanding, he surely no longer deserves to be called "A MAN". Women have been tremendously suffering from violence not only on her but also on society and her children which necessitates taking quick measures to put an end to this violence. When a woman is exposed to violence, there are consequences on her health and emotional state. Some abused women try using drugs, alcohol, smoking or overeating to cope, but this leads to greater harmful drawbacks, such as chronic headaches, back pain and gastrointestinal disorders. In addition to these injuries, abused women also suffer from psychological problems; they experience a range of feeling related to violence from confusion about what brings on this phenomenon to feeling of hopelessness, isolation and depression to being under the violent control of their husbands. Women sometimes even consider suicide as an option to escape violence. More importantly, other than the physical and psychological outcomes, this type of violence can also extend into the realm of society. For those women who have children; exploited mothers are less emotionally available to their basic needs. Moreover, these women may withdraw from social activities and friends. They may choose to no longer participate in communication activities. As long as people use violence to combat violence, we will always have violence; as a result, serious measures should be taken to limit the viral spread of this phenomenon. First of all, women should be provided with access to legal representation and opportunities to pursue justice against perpetrators of violence through the formal legal system. Secondly, parents should end forced early marriage and premature pregnancy; this will help reduce arranged marriages and allow girls to develop both physically and mentally before marriages and child birth. Violence against women is not an answer; it is a problem; one that is increasingly on the rise. Just because it isn't happening to you doesn't mean it isn't happening to someone else; it may be injuring somebody's mother, sister, or daughters. Let's spread the word and do something about it. © 2016 Abbass Badreden |
