Silent

Silent

A Poem by Shreya Arora

I’m silent like a g in Lasagna
Careless like that little boy who has just learned to talk.

There are nights when I fail to sleep
Wide awake, 4:00 AM would say the clock.

I’ve learned to keep things to me
As sharing never seemed easy.

Am I a loser? Am I a strong person?
Thoughts like these cross my mind when I’m tipsy.

Stoned to the bone, not for the fun of it
Just escaping the reality.

I run and I run even faster, leaving everything behind
To find something that makes me euphoric.

All these efforts go in vain
When I realise it was all just a drunken dream.

No matter what they say,
Be kind, be careful, be brave
I’ll still be as silent as the grave.
