My Heart Breaks A Little More Each Day

My Heart Breaks A Little More Each Day

A Poem by Andrea A. Wentz
"

A tale of love leaving.

"
The emptiness in our texts
The lack of substance in our calls
Coming in increasing rarity
The loss in my life...

I once walked a path with you
The road was cramped and rocky
But I never noticed!
All I saw was you, a golden road,
Rolling hills, flowers, and green pastures.
The sun beaming rays of joy
And love from my heart...

Now it's the same path, but painful to walk
The same hills, now steeper
The same flowers, now no fragrance
The same pastures, now dead and brown
The sun no longer beams rays of joy
Radiating only blazing heat
The world, less bright, less alive...

I know it's all my perception,
Yet this is how I feel.
When no caring words come
Only ambivalence,
What is left to feel...?
