Oh Andrea... this is a beautiful tribute to Riley... She is your angel but she is not far. She is within your heart as only a mother's love could give. Alive in your heart she will always be. She is with you looking after her sister's too.. She may need to fly to heaven in her little wings and claim her spot amongst the angels.. But she will return with love, guidance, and protection for her parents and her sisters...
A heartbreaking poem! My wife and I lost two baby girls who never saw daylight - one a miscarriage, the other a stillbirth. We never held those babies in our arms, which may be a blessing, or may be a curse. Those were devastating moments in our lives, but it would surely have been even more devastating had we held them and then lost them, as you did. We went on to have two fine sons, but we still think of our daughters who were never meant to be. So sad, for all who have to suffer this.
It's good to remember and good to honor those we have lost. Writing is a great way to release the grief and the heartache. A way to deal with something unbearable.
There is nothing like a mother's love to help others remember a child lost. A mother/child relationship is one of the greatest gifts. I know you will treasure it always in your heart and that with your words we too will treasure Riley's memory.
I miss her, but she is not really gone. She is just waiting for the rest of us to come home to her.
