God and Common Sense

God and Common Sense

A Story by Andrea A. Wentz
"

A random musing about God, the Devil, and basic common sense.

"

I wonder...did it ever occur to anyone that maybe humans made up the Devil so they could have someone to blame for the bad things they do? I mean hell, when someone dies we say God willed it, or it's God's will, etc. Blame God for the death of a loved one while forgetting that the bible says Satan caused death by decieving Eve to eat a fruit that God created that would make humans die? God sure did go to a lot of work creating everything just to leave a poisonous tree laying around a garden with insanely curious humans roaming within. That's like working for hours to make a soufle then forgetting to set the timer. Or making a huge wedding cake then leaving it on the floor with cats, dogs, and children running around. Sounds like God lacked some common sense.

It's quite simple: God vouldn't create somthing evil, all what he created was good included the freedom he gave to all his creatures, the freedom that aloowed them even to reject him.
satan, was an angel, but his freedom him to reject god so that he became a demon.
Eve ate the fruit that symbolized rejecting god and taking his place in "knowing good and evil"
It's all about our freedom not about God's common sense!

Either that or God got an unusual sense of humor...

Yeah, it's one of those thing that everybody are always questioning about almost daily, but who knows? You've made your theory interesting and I'm pretty sure that is still gossiping around today...

Other than that, very thought-provoking piece you got there...

I didn't get it either at first, but I consulted with my talking snake and he assured me that if I went into a magical forest naked and ate the fruit from a cursed tree, then I would understand completely. ;)
Good write. Made me smile.
