Divorce

Divorce

A Poem by Andrea A. Wentz
"

Poem written for a class in 8th grade. It's called a 5 Sense Poem.

"

Divorce is navy-green

It sounds like thunder

It tastes like cry baby candies

And it smells like death.

It looks like a skeleton

It makes you feel unwanted.

Nice symbolism.

It tastes like cry baby candies

Nice choice of words, cry baby candies are sour, have a picture of someone crying on the wrapper. The best part, the sour goes away after awhile! : ) Good write.

To be so young and have to feel the sting of what Divorce can do to your heart. I often wonder if my own divorce held the same emotions for the children. Thank you for sharing this, most of the time the adults focus on the turmoil it is causing them and often forget that having children involved, seeing the awfulness of the separation, can sometimes leave the child with the guilt that the divorce was caused by them. Even at a young age you had strength in your writing.

I loved this short poem. The imagery was great, which might have been part of the exercise.
