Try Once More

Try Once More

A Poem by Andrea A. Wentz
"

A poem about love lost, the confusion that comes with it, and the hope of a new dawn and a new beginning.

"

What is love?

Is it a feeling

Or a sickness

That leaves you reeling?

Can it be lost,

Or does it endure

Through tests and trials

To far in the future?

Does it "hope all things"

As some have said

Or does it leave you

On the side of the road, dead?

Is it quick to flame

Then leave you lost,

Lying awake at night

Thinking of the cost?

No, love is not that.

No flame easy to extinguish

That when gone leaves

You writhing in anguish.

Love is calm for

When it is gone,

You will let them go

And look to the next dawn.

A new day will come,

A new rain will fall,

A new man will arrive,

And you will heed his call.

Though the pain is great

Time will ease it.

Though it may not seem so,

Your life is not forfeit.

"There will never be

Another like him."

You are right, the next

Will not leave you on a whim.

The man you loved

Can not be replaced,

But you will see

The time was not a waste.

Embrace the lesson learned

And look to the new dawn

For you will become

As a newborn fawn.

Peaceful and kind

Which all will adore.

Full of zest and courage,

Unafraid to try once more.

I should not have opened this one right now- but it is beautiful in emotion and rhythm. It is also easily relateable..which is not spelled correctly but you get the point. I love the hope at the end- something I am never able to acheive. Beautiful imagery- newborn fawn is something that would never even cross my mind but is very effective.

"There will never be
Another like him."
You are right, the next
Will not leave you on a whim.

My favorite verse.

Beautiful poem. Very very well written. Excellent flow, rythm, and ryhme. This piece is brilliant. There are feelings and emotions within the words. Love is probably the greatest miracle and gift ever created. But it can also be very painful if tampered with. I know this very well. But as you wrote at the end I was "unafraid to try once more". I love it. Thanks for the great read. =]

I believe love
can do all of the above
love can feel good
love can hurt
love can makes laugh
but also make us cry.
