Eagle of Courage

Eagle of Courage

A Poem by Andrea A. Wentz
"

A poem written about those who dare to do something new and the uncertainty that comes with it.

"

He seems to call while gliding in the air.

"I would join you if I could oh Great Eagle of Sky,

But if I should soar with you, I fear I might die."

"Then to the ground your feet stay planted,

And never will you see the sight I’ve been granted."

"I dream to soar with you Great Eagle,

But for me, it seem, it’s just too regal."

"You will never live your dream if you do not try,

So stay right there, safe and secure, and watch me fly!"

"But reaching for the stars is not the job of man,

It is not in our make up, not part of the plan."

"One day there will be just the plan you need,

Step forward now and plant the first seed."

"But I will be alone, no one will follow,

My plan will not come to pass, my hope will be hollow."

"Have faith in the wisdom of men for they will come with your call.

I would not say this if I knew you would fall."

"I am here for you to know and take courage young one.

In a little time you will see your dream be done."

With that the man walked away and just as the Eagle said,

The people came and gathered to him, and them he lead.

As the sun shines it’s earliest rays,

An Eagle appears in the foggy haze.

"Join me if you will, or is it, if you dare?"

Your inner courage and strength.... you should believe in yourself y'know (says she).

There is hope while there is honesty. If you have a moment read my take on hope "dearest Zeus", it is much closer to the truth than the popular myth.

I like this style, it questions and relents then questions again... the devil was cast out of heaven for such questioning. But however else shall we learn?

Clever and masterful my friend.

It has a very native american feel to it, but I love it. Even if you had not told me what it was about I think I could have guessed. Maybe not specifics, but a general. I really like how its a conversation and tells a story at the same time. Not many writers can do that. The imagry in the piece is beautiful. I'm a visual person so with the right details or enough of them I can picture things in my head. You gave more then enough for me to see this piece like a movie sense. James Earl Jones with his deep voice as the Eagle, just seems fitting. This made me think of the line, "If you build it they will come."~ Feild Of Dreams.
