my greatest gifts

my greatest gifts

A Chapter by Aatharva Banaitkar
"

the world of empty bottles

"
it is now my time to change
the world
two bottles are my companion
each bottles accompany
my hands
and it will give me
the same joy
which i will get
after changing the world
because of the world
i have changed many times
but now its my time
to change
and my two bottles are enough to support me
i will not feel the pain
when i am drunk
and also i will not feel tension
these bottles will be my medicines
throughout my journey
but when i have changed the world
when the world will bow to me
these bottles will be empty
no other bottles will end my thirst
what time it will be
the whole world will be under me
but it will not have the potential
that could fill my thirst
for the world i have given my best companions
that world is now useless to me
i had the most wonderful gifts
which i sacrificed for the wealth
but this couldn't overcome my thirst
then i will be like my empty bottles
waiting to filled again
and the same bottles which i have
wasted for conquering the world will be left alone
still the tune of my empty bottles still rings in my mind
and the bottles are left to be filled again
and then
someone will appear and fill those bottles
to change the world again

Firstly I'll apologise for not being able to read this earlier. Actually I'm having my final exams so it's been a little difficult to manage my time.
Now for the review.
The poem is very meaningful, genuine and striking. Well done! :)
The beginning is abrupt like Donne (which means it's awesome) and we learn about the subject from the first line only.

''two bottles are my companion''
Since the bottles are two it should be ''companions'' and not ''companion''.

each bottles accompany
Since you've used each you have to use the singular form of bottle and similarly change accompany i.e. Each ''bottle accompanies'' . Or it could also be written as ''Both'' bottles accompany.

''because of the world
i have changed many times
but now its my time
to change''
I just loved these lines. Remarkably done! :)

''what time it will be''
As I'm guessing you're talking about the time when you'll rule the world. If yes, then it should be ''what a time it will be'' because if you don't use ''a time'' then it appears as if you're asking at what time your wish of changing the world will come true. If that is you intention then the sentence is perfectly alright.

''that could fill my thirst''
''Quench my thirst'' would be more appropriate here as ''fill'' is generally used with hunger not thirst.

for the world i have given my best companions
that world is now useless to me
These are heart touching lines. They are reminders to others not to give importance to wealth over the love of people. Amazing lines. :)

and the bottles are left to be filled again
and then
someone will appear and fill those bottles
to change the world again
The ending is perfect. It simply tells that one man may change his way of thinking but mostly people will continue to strive for wealth and honour in the world. It is a caution against going the same way as you've gone disguised as a simple comment. Hats off! :)

The poem is beautiful in every respect and something we can all connect to and learn from. Thank you for sharing this. Keep posting! :)

Life can't be predicted.. Life is empty and we go behind and turn up everything to look it..
My thoughts..
But it is so good..

I think, to be very general, the truth never can be found inside a bottle, magical or not. I think experience can be obtained by living it. Being alive and to taste, feel with the senses we've got will give us an image, a picture of what live really is. Otherwise, a soulmate who can fill the needs in you is always a good solution too. :) Rudi
