The Lords Petition

The Lords Petition

A Poem by Aaron Brammeier

"Give us this day...our daily bread"
prayed in unison
for the hunger pangs
of violent disgust
was it "food for thought"
that the teeth of our minds
could consume
what did You mean?
why did You leave?
we all just want a piece of Eden
to squelch the fruit
let the tasty juice roll down our chins
lip smacking delightful sin
why forbidden?
creation
could have been paradise
why would You let that be deconstructed
into the hellish maze of life
was it our choice?
You could have stopped it...
damned Adam
unraveled the world
upon the spindle You did sow
until the last thread was plucked by angelic hands
enervating humanity into chaotic...
annihilation
