I Guess This Is Happy

I Guess This Is Happy

A Poem by aaronbranch

I realize today isn't as dark as the others,
As I wipe the dust from my faded smile.
I force all my bad thoughts into an unmarked box.
Maybe I'll try happiness for a while.
And maybe I'll take up thinking,
This world isn't past all help.
I'll actually mean it when I laugh,
I'll finally truly believe in myself.

Although love lost its luster,
And depression's left me weak.
My life has just started.
I no longer suffer.
I no longer leak.
I'll no longer feel like I have past my peak.
Because it no longer hurts to hear you speak.

The time seemed to melt away,
But the burn lasted for ages.
No more reminiscing about bad memories,
I already tore out those bad pages.
I see through the fallacies of love and its games.
I'll let sun dry the needless tears in my eyes.
Won't dwell on callous thoughts,
With my head held towards the sky.

Although love lost its luster,
And depression's left me weak.
My life has just started.
I no longer suffer.
I no longer leak.
I'll no longer feel like I have past my peak.
Because it no longer hurts when you speak.
