A Girl of Three YearsA Poem by Amy L. ArendChild left behind poem
A Girl of 3 Years
A girl of 3 years so full of wisdom sitting on this fence waiting.
Waiting for what? We do not know. But this is what we do know.
A girl of 3 years so full of wisdom sitting on this fence waiting.
With her dainty toes dangling from above. Each toe is crusted over with mud. Mud from all of her days on her toes.
Her fingers are like ice. So fragile yet cold and hard. You just want to nibble them.
Her dress is torn into pieces. Torn beyond belief.
All is seen is what is seen.
She's looking through a window. What is she searching for?
Who is this girl?
A girl of 3 years so full of wisdom sitting on this fence waiting.
I'm sitting next to her
Listening to her talk and sing. Oh, how harsh and rough her voice is. At only 3 years, she has been hardened.
A girl of 3 years so full of wisdom sitting on this fence waiting for someone to claim her as their own.
