Silence

Silence

A Poem by Amy L. Arend
"

Poem on a picture from an older book

"

Silence

Maybe if I sit here, just maybe

my life will transform before my eyes

Just maybe I can finally hear the sweet sounds

that I pretended to hear my whole life.

Maybe if I sit here and smile

my soul will lift me to the clouds.

Just for once I would like to hear

the sweet melody that brings so much

ecstasy to so many.

This leather seat isn't so comfortable

but maybe that'll add to the experience.

The headphones tightening on my head

with every beat passing by.

The beats gives me so much

but hides so much.

What do these beats mean?

What do they symbolize?

Is it strange for me to sit here

and nod my head along to the

music I can never hear?

Why is it me, the successful

person in my family who cannot

hear the simple happiness in the beats?

Maybe it's because I don't deserve the

happiness just yet.

Just maybe if I sit here,

my life will change.

Change before my eyes, just maybe.
