Grave

Grave

A Poem by Angela Abate

I saw your picture today

and I can't handle the state that you're in

I held my breath for a while

as I thought about eternal sin

I saw your picture today

all the words engraved in stone

you would not believe

how grimly the rock had shown

I know you felt you needed to do it

but I can't help but cry

what would've happened

if we only knew to try

When I saw your picture today

It filled me with an immense dread

Zach, I cannot take knowing

that I'll never see you again

Because when I saw your picture today

I remembered all the memories we had together

and here I sit

staring at a picture of your grave, forever

A very honest, sad, yet well expressed poem. A great tribute.
