Dead Inside

Dead Inside

A Poem by Taylor Rae

She begins each day with slipping out of bed
She closes her eyes tightly and wishes she were dead
she pulls out the sweater that cover her scars
dreaming of running away somewhere far

She smiles with all her friends
only she knows that it is pretend
the familiar excuse that she already ate
her body is shriveling at a fast rate

she goes home and is forgotten
by parents that think shes rotten
she hides away in her room
the razor blade will be her doom

the metal bites at her thin wrist
her blue eyes start to mist
she tries to remember when she was not miserable
but then again her life has always been pitiful

she is standing against the whole world
her heart has been hurled
against the walls
that she has built ever so tall

she lays in bed
hoping this time she will be dead
but sh knows she will
only have to start things all over again
