Leech Vines

Leech Vines

A Poem by Prana

Leech Vines wait like crocodiles for land squid to pass by. Swiftly, a defenseless Agni squid is reeled in by this relentless plant. Bright flashes of blue and green begin to illuminate from the squid's body, warning others of danger. The vines proceed to constrict the squid, sinking their thorns deep, mindfully preserving the Agni for future meals. Fellow squid remain timid, watching, until the winking light seemed to fade.
