Well, in different ways; city life can be stifling. And, in different ways. The larger the city, the more intense that sense of being stifled, or struggling for "air"; is likely to be.
Of course, cities are places for fresh opportunities too. Not just jobs, but fun and socialising too.
In my experience, city dwellers need to find their own special places; in whatever city they happen to be. I grew up in northwest London, and found places which mattered to me; mostly within that northwest zone and London's South Bank area.
Those struggling for "air" in city centres, can sometimes find temporary escapes; in outer suburbs or more rural locations.
Sometime if it’s too quiet or too loud it’s overwhelming and suffocating. I’m both an introvert and extrovert so both can throw me off balance depending on my mood and the day I’ve had.
