Flashing wings

Flashing wings

A Poem by a_methyste
"

I could see his flashing wings, Tail and crown With patches of red, yellow, orange and white. As they glowed. Stretching up, Flicking the tail and and spreading wings. Hissing, Fluffing, feathers.

"
I could see his flashing wings,
Tail and crown
With patches of red, yellow, orange and white.
As they glowed.
Stretching up,
Flicking the tail and and spreading wings.
Hissing,
Fluffing, feathers.
As coming nearer and nearer.
In the color of lewdness, I followed.
Entangled in his force of attraction!
Feathers scattered all over around.
Red, yellow, orange and white.
A glimpse i would miss!
Cruel memory was to blame,
Yet
Untamed.
A cage destroys all the colors of a feather.

Interesting. What a curious creature, is depicted in this poem.?

It seems to have some features of a beast, with that tail, feathers and the hissing. Mostly bird-like attributes, but no mere bird is ever said to be "hissing".

And, those multi-colours of the feathers, in addition to this creature's crown; make it most likely that this beast is a bird which wants attention? Reminding me, of a "bird of paradise".

And, sure enough; it made you feel compelled to follow "in the colour of lewdness".

Birds are of course, sometimes brightly coloured; as an asset to mating rituals (or helping to attract mates in some way). And, known to "show off" or perform frantic eye-catching movements; as an aspect of asserting themselves within their flock.

Maybe, these antics of birds; reminded you of how men can be? The "showing off", and attempts to dazzle their targeted women; with brazen promises or other charms.?

Of course, only the writer knows for sure; her thoughts whilst writing this. And, what first put the ideas in her head.?
